This is a photo I took of Wesley Schultz, lead guitarist and vocalist of the Lumineers, at my first music festival in Seattle this summer. The light in this photo clearly directs the eye of the audience to Wesley, and takes the attention away from the rest of the band and anything else on stage. This concert was performed at a huge outdoor stadium, yet the lighting design in this moment made you feel like you were at a one-on-one concert. The ability of the lighting designer to make you feel like you were at a personal concert, being serenaded by Wesley Schultz, is mind blowing. The warm glow of the amber light is comforting and feels familiar, welcoming you into the performance.
