I know you said no sunsets but this is a picture of how the sunset casts on the mountains. I thought this picture was interesting because everything including the sky, the streets and the cars are gray but the mountains are lit with the yellowish orange tint. It makes me think that in a very dull world there is still light poking through somewhere. This picture makes me feel calm. To recreate this look I would maybe use gobos to set the tone.
