A FRAMED SUNRISE - BLOG # 3

This picture was taken right inside the house I grew up in. We have a big window that we got put in when I was pretty young because we have a beautiful view of the city below (we live on a big hill). So I always see a lovely view out of this window - but I love the sunrise in this specific image. It feels almost as if the sunset is a literal framed photograph in my house because of how clear and vibrant the colors are. I absolutely love these intense purples, magentas and pinks. I don’t often see a very rose -tinted sunrise, so this combination of colors feels rare and special. It was a very early morning when I took this picture, but I remember being so astounded by how beautiful outside looked, so I had to get a picture. I would walk by this window every day, but every so often the window shows an awesome view of my city. I also love the distinct difference between inside and outside, and how inside we have a light on the left that is illuminating, but ultimately only for visibility. The color of the light itself doesn’t bring anything to the house. It brings up the interesting contrast between the natural sunset being so beautiful and breath taking, while the man made light is somewhat boring and dry. The sunset in this image also looks somewhat painted - there are distinct color changes in the sunset itself, looking exactly like brushstrokes of paint on a canvas. If you look closely, you can make out tiny pinpricks of light, that make up the small skyline of the city below. I love how the hills/mountains in the background of the sunrise are silhouetted not in black, but a deep purple. It makes the nature in the sunrise feel apart of this beautiful painting the sun has made, and it reminds me how light can so greatly effect something’s appearance.
