I found this picture particularly striking, featuring lamps that produce this ripple effect. I think the upward angle of the light, bouncing and reflecting off the wall behind the lamps produces a dramatic, almost magical effect. I am conflicted between whether this picture provokes imagery of water, flames, or smoke. The light in this photo appears to be moving even though it is a still image. This rippling effect would be beautiful on stage in a dance piece, producing movement without actual movement of the lamps themselves. I would imagine that if these lamps were turned or rotated, they would produce a beautiful, ever-changing flow of ripples.
