Blog #3

I wanted to take the time to analyze this photo because he’s a good boy with beautiful lighting. There are two candles on one side and one on the other that creates an interesting dynamic both on the dog, the rug, and the glasses. For the pup, it’s very pleasing that the left side of the pup is brighter than the right. Since the white fur on the left side is brighter, it is harder to see the texture. The white fur on the left side seems like a solid color in contrast to the white fur on the right which you can see the individual hairs. The lights then reflect in the eyes of the pup which creates a glossy look but makes me feel sympathy and awe. Also, there are two dots in the pup’s eye from the candle and one in the right. The limited lighting creates a massive shadow under the pup’s right ear except for the reflection of the white nail barely peeking through. It’s crazy how the color of the pup’s fur and its reflection influence the final view we see. The candles in the three glass created reflections on the glass that echoes through the room. On the rug, there is a shadow coming immediately off the glass. The candle base is casting this shadow and once it ends there is the brightest point and it fades the further away the light gets. Furthermore, the solo light on the right has a bigger shadow because of its distance away from the other two candles. Finally, the reflection in the glass makes the glass glow. It creates more light and makes me think with any kind of texture inside would create patterns on the rest of the room.
