Blog #4 - Spitz (Little Tokyo, Los Angeles)

Continuing the trend of blogging about bars (evidently, this one is not LGBTQ+ centered. At least for now), here is a little blurb about Spitz Mediterranean Street Food in Little Tokyo, LA. I had stumbled into this little nook on our way to The Abbey with my good friend as we waited to kill time for an old high school friend of mine who, by the end of the night, never showed up. However, the makeup of the bar/restaurant was quite unique and was primarily lit with more unconventional lighting tools. The top image defines the aesthetic of the dangling and cord-filled/cord-tangled lights that are seen throughout the restaurant and bar, and it offers warmer lights for a cozier environment. The middle image really drew my eyes towards it when I sat at the bar because the shelves were filled with interesting things to look at that were illuminated with various types of desk lamps. It's not the flashy LED vodka bottles of other bars, but it doesn't need to be with the more eclectic nature of spot.
As seen in the bottom image, the lights of the bathroom were lightbulbs filled with sediment of some sort and were just dangling from power strips attached to the ceiling. While aesthetically pretty interesting, I was drawn to the potential dangers that this could pose. I myself cannot reach these lights because I am short, but for someone taller than 5'2: a tempting sin to be committed. Overall, the lighting was incredibly unique with its warm and unconventionally charming elements, and I'd like to go back to see what other quirky things I missed!
