I found this picture to be both beautiful and puzzling at the same time. The picture shows a carved walkway with transparent walls so that passersby can see out into the city or into the world. The lighting developed for this piece involved a lighting designer creating architectural lighting design elements. In this picture, there are the warm red and orange tones of the walls and floor and, in contrast, the black from the shadows and ceiling above. The light that enhances this picture seems to be coming from the windowed walls, however, whether the colors are from the same source or are made artificially is unknown to me. All of the light sources in this photograph seem natural and brighten up space without a form of harsh light present. What I find most beautiful about this piece is its simplicity. Even though there are only two real colors present in the lighting elements, they are effective for creating an aura of warmth, almost depicting a beautiful sunset. The colors bleed together like in a watercolor painting, a gradual transition from reds to oranges.
