Samantha Scheller - Blog Post #3
For this blog post, I chose this picture that I took on my plane ride home from Anchorage, Alaska. I've always liked how on planes you are able to process light in a unique way. One, through the shape of the windows, two by the filter the windows naturally put on the light beams that pass through it, and three how the shape of light changes depending on where you are in the sky. In this particular photo, I also was attracted to both the color and different textures of the light. There's the reading light coming from overhead with a circular shape and projection, the LED Blue light strip that runs parallel to the side of the plane, and the natural skylight coming in through the side window that reflects amber light onto the back of seats in front of me. The colors, shapes, and textures of these different light sources all work together to craft a very specific picture, that also is able to capture the conflicting feelings I felt on my flight home. I feel like if I was designing a scene similar to this memory in my life, I would use this picture as inspiration for the color, texture, complexities, and emotions I would use to evoke atmosphere in said hypothetical scene.
