Blog #5

Hi everyone!
For this last blog post, I wanted to talk about this dazzling lighting design of the last concert that I went to back in January of this year. The whole plot consisted of non-moving, LEDs on the theater's pipes, on booms, and the floor which looked like a very simple set up. Plus, a led light up outline of a cartoon pony that was doing a tie-dye effect/constantly changing color. The color palettes that were used were super vibrant and changed themes throughout the show, from sunset tones to natural tones to a full rainbow effect as seen here. Also, there were mini twinkle lights on the back screen which made for another cool effect. Side note, the light board was out in the open towards the middle of the theater, as the boards during tech, and not pushed to the far back or in a control room, it was nice since the board ops had a clear, open, and live view of the stage which was nice to see! At the beginning of the show, there appeared a very cute set design featuring cloud cut-outs that the lighting emphasized and dimensionalized. Towards the middle-end of the show, a curtain dropped down and burgundy and blue lights illuminated it which made it look so cool and incredibly detailed.  I couldn't find the name of the designer anywhere but I know the last designer of the artist's last tour, Jed Skrzypczak, but I don't know if these are his designs.
