The contrast between light and dark in this image is what resonates with me the most, and particularly the angle of this image adds a level of mystery. Knowing that this is a light bulb adds the question of whether the light was about to commence, or whether it was concluding; and this mysterious quality is highlighted through the intensity of the light. Intensity is a powerful tool, especially in this image, because it can create a certain atmosphere due to the brightness relativity and our eye adaptation. With lighting design, setting a particular mood is extremely important in our objectives, and this image is a striking atmospheric presence with the dimmed illumination of the lightbulb. I also found this image striking because it reminded me of the fresnel light that is directly above the actor in our class plot. However, in this image we can see the angle from a unique perspective that we wouldn't ever be able to see sitting down in class.
